Wetlands give us our drinking water, irrigate our crops, support huge biodiversity, underpin cultures, and are vital in the fight to mitigate and adapt to climate change. But, our planet, and wetlands, are warming up rapidly, while we continue exploiting their resources beyond limits.
The situation in and around the Buna Delta is no exception. Crop and livestock production, fishing, and tourism in this area are all heavily dependent on healthy wetland resources – but unsustainable practices are common in all these activities.
This June, let us pause for two days, and remind ourselves about the importance of wetlands. Let us celebrate their wealth and the ways they support our well-being and livelihoods. Find us in the Buna Delta!
